Download Shush!

Are you sophisticated? Great application for you now! It’s really a nice apps for class, the office, movies and sleep. It’s one of the best Android apps of 2012.

Yes I am talking about Shush! — Shush! is different from other phone silencers. You can set Shush! to shut your smartphone’s volume off for an allotted time. After the allotted time is up, Shush! will turn your smartphone’s volume to whatever you like. When you set the timer you can also set the volume you’d like it turn to after the timer is complete. Those who are in meeting or are going to movie can turn Shush! On for how long the meeting/movie lasts and have their smartphone automatically turn back to previous volume settings. Quite a handy tool.

When you turn your ringer off for a movie, this app turns it back on afterwards. It's activated when you silence your ringer using the volume buttons. You don't need to remember a special app! Once your ringer is off, it asks you how long to stay silent. Never miss another important call.

Try download this application for your Android phone and if you find any problem try launching it manually first.

Powermat Your Holiday Companion

For this holiday season, you must have planned out your party and trips. In holiday's you always wanted to be carefree and relaxed and that’s why you do planning and packing accordingly. There are few gadgets which always give you a tension free environment while travelling.

PowerMat is an exciting new wireless charging technology. It was first demonstrated in 2008 and early 2009 and is now available to buy for the home and office.

So what is PowerMat? It is a small device that uses wireless charging to charge your most important gadgets like cellphones (including the iPhone and Blackberry), video games (including the Nintendo DS), and iPod without you having to connect them to a charger or plug them into the wall. The PowerMat itself is, of course, plugged into the wall and connected to mains electricity by a wire, but from then on everything is wireless. You drop your device onto the PowerMat and it gets charged wirelessly, without you having to do anything.

The Powermat uses magnetic induction to charge any device you want -- that's right, it's not just your iPhone that's having all the fun. All you have to do is add a receiver to your gadget. We love that we can get rid of the clutter of wires all over our desks, and charge things on our Powermat. This is also great for business travel, when we're on our phones and tablets a lot and get stuck in places that don’t always have outlets.

IT and Planning

It's time to plan the budget and avoid falling off of a so called fiscal cliff within your realm. The budget might apply to a one person IT staff or a large enterprise wide IT department. Maybe someone requires a new laptop; this might have to be in a budget. This has to be sold or explained to non-IT people who might see the IT department as overhead. That means showing them numbers that make sense and keeping it simple for non-IT folks. The budget planner has to show what was done in the past year and how the money to be allocated for next year will be used.

The budget planner has to show the numbers to back it up. Here are some different scenarios which might be considered.

There is a need for new newer, faster computer hardware upgrade. Show how many computer users have been added to the server in the past year or since the server was installed. Show the number of printers added to the server. This might help justify the much needed upgrade.

A need for additional network routers and/or switches is required or performance will be unbearable. Show how many devices have been added to the network and why there is a need for more routers or switches to meet this growth in the coming year.

The help desk is getting too many calls and the wait time is too long or it takes too long to get an issue resolved. Maybe there is not a dedicated help desk and things are not getting done that require attention because too much time is spent on support. Show how many calls were taken this year compared to last year. Does the increase justify adding to the help desk? Possibly the support calls keep someone from getting their other work done. Maybe you supported only computers, printers and networks. This year they added support for cell phones, VOIP phones, and other devices on the server and or network. Show them the numbers.

Training for employees must happen to keep employees up to speed on current technology. Show how this training is going to solve problems, save money and help get projects done on time and under budget. For some employees training is a reward. Make a point that this will help improve employee morale as well.

New laptop or workstation computers have to be in the plan this year. Perhaps there is a plan to replace a number of computers every year. Show what departments or employees will get new computers this year. Show how long they are in service and why the need to be replaced. Tell how long they are expected to last before being replaced. Show that new software might require new laptops or workstations. In many cases it makes sense to roll out new desktop hardware at the same time new software is introduced. It may make sense to replace the computer with new software on it then to upgrade just the software on an old computer.

Of course to show them the numbers the budget planner has to keep track of them or count them. Computers, computer users, servers, routers, switches and phones can be counted. Help desk and support issues should be logged so they can be counted too. This can also help solve repeated problems and track employee performance. Now if the support issues are not logged make sure they are for next year.

Jailbreak iPads

Jailbreak is something which is related to iPhone devices. But what about iPad devices jailbreak? Those who have iPads will definitely want to know what the law says regarding unlocking or jailbreaking these tablet devices before attempting to do so. Although it is completely legal to jailbreak an iPhone device or any smartphone for that matter, it is still illegal to jailbreak iPads. A law that was passed back in 2010 makes it legal to unlock smartphones but that does not apply to tablet computers like the iPad. If you have been thinking about jailbreaking your iPad, you might want to think again. There are some other downsides to doing this to your tablet or smartphone and you will want to be aware of them before making your final decision as to what you want to do.

In addition to being illegal, jailbreaking a certain mobile device like a smartphone or tablet computer can also void the warranty and corrupt the device itself. Even though a jailbreaking phone has become very popular in recent years, you will find that there are some risks associated with doing so. You will find that after you jailbreak your iPhone or iPad and try to take it in for repairs or to get a replacement because something is wrong with it, the warranty may not be honored.

As far as the legality of jailbreaking an iPad is concerned, those who want to stay on the right side of the law will need to avoid doing so to their tablet device. The law upholds the right for smartphone users to jailbreak their devices but not for those who do the same thing to tablet computers such as the iPad. In recent years jailbreaking has becoming increasingly popular due to the fact that it allows users of these devices to download and install third-party applications on them.

When you jailbreak a phone or tablet computer, you will be able to download applications from places other than the official Apple App Store or some equivalent. Although it is true that jailbreaking is very popular, it isn't always legal. The law regarding the illegality of jailbreaking iPads covers all states and is nationwide. While it may currently be illegal for iPad users to jailbreak these devices, the law is still changing and evolving to include other devices such as these tablet computers. It is expected by many that iPads will eventually be included in the same category as iPhones in the months or years to come.

Exceptions to this jailbreaking law can be made every three years, meaning in 2015 there may be an exception which includes iPads. Currently the only mobile devices that can be jailbroken are smartphone such as iPhones. Before you decide to jailbreak your mobile device though, you will want to take into consideration a few things, including the legality of what you are doing. One of the main reasons that a lot of people are hesitant to jailbreak their phones is because of the fact that it could cause the warranty to be rendered void. What we think about this will make the difference. So according to the above mentioned points decision can be drawn.

Importance of Database Mobile Application

It is the client or the customer who runs the business and not the business owner. A deeper insight would reveal that the data pertaining to these customers is very crucial for the business. The data related to other aspects of business management are equally important. If you want your business to be successful and run as desired towards achieving the set goals, the data base is an indispensable element.

Accesses to the data:
It is known that data can be stored either in a local storage device or an external server. Optimum efficiency of the mobile application is possible when it pertains to local data storage rather than external server. For a mobile application accessing a data from local data storage is easy. Moreover, the application is least concerned with the network connection. Mobile applications of this kind are very quick and make the user feel very comfortable.

The only weak point of mobile applications is that the designing and implementing part are very complex. A mobile application cannot work in isolation forever. There needs to be some exchange of data at one time or another between the application and the source of data. The data in the application has to be regularly updated and this becomes difficult especially when the application is not having any network connection. It usually takes more skills and longer time to develop mobile database applications.

Costing:
The mobile database applications have proved to be much cheaper than the online applications that depend on the browser for data. The dependency of the mobile data application is very limited while in case of online application the data is constantly sent and received between the server and the data storage device. One may feel that the cost of mobile database application is higher just because of the higher upfront cost but in the longer run it proves to be much affordable.

Next Step For E-Retailers - M Commerce

You might have seen some high-profile buyers standing with their iPhones or Blackberry's in shopping stores, researching product reviews and making cost comparisons. You would also have come across customers, clicking product pictures and sharing a link to seek advice from friends in their social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and so, prior to their purchase. Well! That's the exciting world of m-commerce i.e. mobile -commerce.

With the immensely high demand for mobile phones, PDAs and other handheld devices, a new worldwide business frontier of m-commerce has been created. The introduction of mobile internet has provided for this new sales channel which can be customized to the consumer's location. The concept of buying anything- from any place- at any time- is indeed appealing.

Although Mobile-commerce is a variant of e-commerce but it is a unique distribution channel based on the emerging 'transactional' role of mobile devices. Mobile-commerce has originated from the concept of "virtual goods" like ringtones and applications which have gradually paved way for the sale of "real" products. Today, m-commerce has reached a stage where retailers are getting increasingly driven to this new and powerful channel of conducting business.

Through m-commerce, retailers can also take the advantage of location-based GPS services to entice customers into their stores. Coupons and other promotional offers can be pushed to customers' phones depending upon their locations. Other information about products and their prices can also be accessed through such location-based services by customers. A mobile presence can engage consumers and provide valuable information with a simple and unique design. But, before retailers decide to move forward with mobile-commerce, they clearly need to define and plan their desired goals.

Before moving on to m-commerce, retailers must take into account different approaches of creating their mobile presence. Mobile presence can be created in two different ways: either by optimizing the retailers' sites for mobile devices or by creating a mobile application. While a mobile website is a simple design for attracting more potential buyers; a mobile application on the other hand, can create interactive features and can keep loyal consumers happy. But both the mobile site and application must develop a balance of providing enough information without overwhelming the mobile connection because not all phones are created equal. Mobile devices are still in an evolving stage and an over-complicated or slow running feature can turn a potential buyer away.

The influence of mobile-commerce technologies on people's lives and on their buying decisions is undeniable. Hence, retailers who plan to take their business mobile will most likely be able to attract loyal and tech-savvy customers. And even though mobile e-commerce website solutions is still in its early stages, its technologies can capture the new multichannel consumers - whether they are at home or at work, or shopping in or near your stores.

PayPal Accounts

Before we get down to the types, it is important to know about the core services that PayPal offers.

These include:

  • Sending money
  • Requesting money
  • Access to eBay Tools
  • Merchant services
  • Accepting payments via credit and debit cards
  • PayPal debit cards
  • Multi-user access
  • 24-hours check on fraudulence
  • Customer service

Personal PayPal Account
As the name suggests, this account is meant for personal use. Through this account, the person is able to send money, receive money from other PayPal users, and can have access to Auction tools. The transactions via this account incur no charge for the user. The PayPal account holder is eligible for customer services. However, he is eligible to accept payments only from other PayPal accounts but not from any credit or debit card. Although for this account type, holding money in it and transaction using it are free, it has a set limit for receiving payments in a month. This account has limited access to merchant services and PayPal debit card, and does not offer the benefit of multi-user feature. In short, the personal account fits the bill for people who do online shopping more often.

Premiere PayPal Account
Users having this PayPal account type, have access to all the core benefits offered by PayPal, except for multi-user access. They have the advantage of receiving unlimited credit or debit card payments, and bank account payments, as well. They get a PayPal debit card, and green flag to buy or sell on merchant websites as and when they wish. Unlike personal account, this type allows the user to access to varied merchant services like invoicing, procession of credit cards, and has features such as shopping cart, and payment reporting tools. Users do not get charged for creating the account, holding money, or sending money. However, there would be a nominal fee incurred for withdrawal of funds and receiving funds.

Business PayPal Account
The business PayPal account includes all the core features mentioned above; meaning, the user can enjoy all the benefits. This account fits the bill for people who intend to run or are running a large-scale online business. The person can operate the account under the name of his/her business, and can create multiple users for a single account. There is no set limit to the amount or size of transactions. Similar to other accounts, creating the account, holding money and sending money is free, but withdrawal and receiving are not.

Making transactions via PayPal is as easy as sending an email. But most importantly, it offers an extra security measure for the user, as the transaction can be done without giving out any sensitive information related to the account. To add to this, even for merchants, this service ensures security as the buyers are verified individuals.

Manage Small IT Business

Information Technology has never been more affordable. Small businesses can now take advantage of technology that will help them level the playing field and compete with larger companies, even on a global scale. Yet, the costs for small businesses that compete with you have come down too. How do you use IT to gain a competitive advantage?

Business leads - IT follows

Use IT to provide value to your customers
If IT doesn't add value for your customers, what's the point? Technology should allow you to either, lower costs, provide better customer service, or develop new products and services your customers need. If deploying new technology doesn't do one of these, don't bother.

Don't buy more complexity than you need.
Efficiency is found in simplicity - fewer moving parts. Don't buy feature laden software if simple software gets the job done. However, you should take care to analyze and anticipate your needs so you don't under buy. A good tactic is to plan for a progression of features or capabilities that match your expected growth. Choose software that is easily upgraded and allows you to use your existing data with new versions or modules.

Apply technology only if it improves a process
A manual process is often the most efficient. Don't spend 200 man hours implementing a technology that will save you 8 man hours a month. Any technology should also add customer value over and above the manual process.

Monitor capacity, performance and health
Don't just set it and forget it. There are too many inexpensive management tools that will allow you to monitor your systems and alert you in time to avert a disruption of service. Something as simple as running out of disk space can cause a service outage that takes days to recover from.

Be proactive instead of reactive
Monitoring your systems also allows you to collect data that can be used for trend analysis. For example: By knowing the rate of increase in your disk space usage you can predict when you will need to add capacity and plan accordingly.

Replace your equipment before it wears out or becomes unreliable. Practice "life cycle management." Budget for computer replacement every 3 to 5 years. For example: if you have 40 computers, consider budgeting to replace 10 of them each year.

Plan for contingency
Hardware fails. Users screw up. Viruses are always a threat. It's prudent and cost effective to use redundant disk technology on your server, but you don't have to go crazy trying to build fault tolerance into all your systems. If you have 20 computers, having a spare ready to go only costs you an additional 5%. That's a very cost effective way to increase availability. I've worked with large companies that will spend days trying to source parts and repair a computer while the user cannot work.

Provide operational structure
Define the processes you will use to manage your information technology just as you would any other business process. Use a regimented approach to performing the tasks needed to complete the processes. For example: backing up your data requires a number of specific steps. Write them down, perform them at the same time every day, and train more than one person to do them. Plan how you will update software and apply patches. Create processes, document them and develop a routine.

Train users
Your users don't need to know how to use every little bell and whistle. If they help them do their job faster, they'll learn them. Train them how to use their hardware and software to complete the business processes they are responsible for first. Teach them about Internet safety and help them organize their files and data.
